one...more...show
I am currently in the middle of our fall show for our theatre company. Its a show I wrote with another member and I directed it. Its a dessert theatre - so involves setting tables and working with the caterer (gratefully - a very good, easy to get along with caterer).
And today, after working a full day - I arrived at the venue to find the only other person there was my beloved husband. So together, with the occasional help of my children, we set the set, the tables and then I got into hair and makeup. And about half an hour after we were done, the rest of the cast started to show up.
Thanks...for...coming.
Though truth be told - sometimes its easier when they aren't there because people standing around, horsing around and not helping are more annoying than people who aren't even there.
Sometimes, directing community theatre is like trying to take care of ten eight year olds. And I have one...more...show.
Now - complaining aside, we have sold out three out of four nights and the one night we didn't sell out, we had a very respectable showing. People have been receiving the show well and its been successful for the company.
And I am almost done with it. I have never done a show that I haven't been happy to be finished with - but I am really looking forward to having the responsibility of this one off my shoulders. And going back to having a life beyond the Casa de Coffee.
