Garden Blessings

This afternoon as I drove around my yard searching for gardening tools, I happened to catch what I thought was a really big dragonfly out of the corner of my eye. We have some pretty big dragonflies around here but this had a bit too much substance.
It was a hummingbird - and an absolute garden blessing for my prairie garden.
Not only does it mean that good things are happening here and that the pond was a positive addition to the yard - but that there would probably be more hummingbirds now and other birds we haven't seen here as well.
I love that I have created this oasis here; that somewhere out there in the bird network is a message that if you travel in this direction you'll find flowers and food and a bath as well.
So - of course - the work I'd planned to do was abandonded and replaced with picture taking. The whole family came out and she was so exciting to watch, we all spent quite a bit of time following her from one flower to the next and back again to the first. We snapped hundreds of photos trying to capture her magic for just a millisecond - but as usually happens, the first photos were the best.
sharing my blessings...

I am very impressed with my camera too - so I will highly recommend it! Its a Canon Powershot S3IS.
I think its amazing for a digital to be able to have a fast enough shutterspeed to capture a hummingbird's wings. It cost around $400 I think so pretty reasonable.

anonymous thank you!
You're absolutely right - that is a sphynx moth. Funny too - because my dh and I commented that we thought it was strange that she had markings like a moth or a butterfly and that she had antennae. Neither of which we really could see until we got the photos onto the computer.
Thanks again. I've never seen one of these before.
