The next day

The next day began with what I considered a real treat. I woke before anyone else and since the sleep hadn't been great - but better once I turned myself around and got off the funky hump in the ground - I decided I'd treat myself to a quiet shower alone.

I quietly gathered my stuff, which was no easy feat considering six of us were sleeping in one tent, and headed to the (free!hot!) showers. Ah, apparently six other mothers had the same idea and so I took my place in line. Unfortunately - the girls joined me in line shortly afterwards and my quiet shower became an assembly line of hair washing and scrubbing while encouraging everyone to not annoy everyone in line behind us by taking too long.

We hopped in the van, stopped to buy a picnic meal along the way and headed to Lynn Canyon Park - which has a suspension bridge. Truth be told, I'm not too big on heights, but I refuse to let my children see me afraid and so I played cheerleader as we went across. 'yeah! You're doing it! way to go! We're almost there.' They were being very brave for me (at least the younger two were since the older two didn't seem to have a problem) and I was very brave for them and by the end of the bridge I was thinking it hadn't been long enough!

We hiked to a waterfall

and stopped along the way back to climb giant tree stumps
alt="" /> and rest our aching legs because the hike back up a mountain in always a little harder than the hike down.

We spent the rest of the day at the Science Center - getting smarter of course. We had so much fun there we stayed until they, literally, kicked us out. We love Lego and we love Egypt so the Lego Egypt display they had was one of the highlights.

We had supper at a nice restaurant that night and a dip in the pool before bed. I sat reading completely useless tabloid magazines - yes, that's right, I'm that shallow - before I dragged myself to bed.

oh so glad to know I am not the only mother who pretends to be excited about stuff that is scaring the crap out of her.

Love the legos, and adore the fact that I didn't even have to wait 24 hours for more.

I love suspension bridges.....from a distance :)

What a lovely vacation. And I admire you for being able to cross that bridge. I'm not sure I would have made it.
